Below I have detailed a few top tips for cleaning your home. These were gleaned after interviewing Pete Walker from CleanerwayPW. Pete is one of the best cleaners Lancaster has to offer, very professional and super picky. So when he gives tips on cleaning, I take notes!
Create A Cleaning Routine
A routine is defined as something you do, generally on a daily basis, that becomes a habit. When something becomes a habit you do it almost automatically, without thinking about it. That is why you want to develop a routine for cleaning your home. Then it is almost like the house cleans itself, because you unconsciously do all the little tasks necessary to tidy it up.
So, how do you develop this routine? First, you need to realize that some tasks need to be done on a weekly basis, and these should be set up on a schedule. However, those tasks that should be done daily are the best for creating a cleaning routine.
A routine keeps you from cleaning the same thing twice, or messing up something that has already been cleaned. One great tip to help you develop your routine is to “Start High and Finish Low”.
Window Cleaning
Clean your windows first thing in the morning whilst the panes are still cool.Once the sunlight has heated up the panes, there is a tendency for streaks to be left behind. After you have completed your window cleaning, clean the tools that you used. Otherwise the dirt stuck on it will ruin your window pane when you try to use the same tools for the next cleaning. If you have a large number of windows or they are out of your reach, it would be better to hire the services of a professional window cleaning company.
Bathroom Bonus
Don’t toss your shower curtain liner just because it has some dirt and mildew build-up. Extend the life of your liner and save money in the process by tossing liners in the washing machine. For plastic liners set the machine on the gentle cycle with warm water and regular laundry detergent or 1⁄2 cup of vinegar.
Kitchen Know How
We don’t like to think so, but our kitchen is probably one of the dirtiest places in the house. Follow these tips to keep it clean and safe.
Pour a bottle of pure vinegar into the drain of your kitchen sink. Vinegar, being a very strong acid, helps melt away most of the grease stuck to the pipes of your sink. Then pour a pot of boiling hot water afterwards and now you will experience less incidences of a clogged sink.
Try mixing a 50/50 solution of vinegar and water in a spray bottle. Use this solution on to clean any surface like kitchen counters, cabinets, tables, etc.
The same ingredient used to bake pies and bread is also a natural deodorizer and cleaning agent. Mix baking soda and some lemon juice and this becomes a very good scrub that can take away most stains on hard surfaces. You can also try putting an open box of baking soda inside the refrigerator to absorb the smell of food.
Out And Up
Your gutters serve a very important purpose for your home, and are essential to your roof’s structure. Gutters control the water flow around your home so that it flows away from your home to prevent any potential damage. If gutters start becoming filled with debris, they can actually get clogged and fail to flow the water away from the home. This is why it is absolutely critical that gutters are well maintained and cleaned out on a regular basis. Failure to do so can result in some serious water damage that can be both dangerous and expensive.
I hope you enjoyed those tips. Let me know if you want me to go more in depth on anything.
